Finding the Perfect Island in the Philippines?
Imagine your perfect island. You're probably thinking palm trees, white sand, blue water, right? Something along the lines of what Robinson Crusoe would be proud to call home. It might have been easy to find an island like that in the 1700's, but with the majority of the world's 6 billion+ living within 20 miles of the coast, deserted islands are getting pretty rare. Even in a place like the Philippines with more than 7,000 islands (depending on the tide), it's harder than you might think. After spending more than three years traversing the archipelago, I think I finally found the perfect one and it's in Samar. Check out this photo gallery and you can be the judge...
Find Out MoreAround the World in 80(ish) Photos
Ever catch the original 'Around the World in 80 Days' movie? It won the Oscar for 'Best Picture' in 1956, it's one of my favorites that I still watch from time to time. So in honor of Jules Verne and Phileas Fogg, I put together this extra tall gallery of about 80 images that covers some of the best places I've visited over the past few years. You'll see everything from Himalayan peaks in India and Nepal to underwater reefscapes across Southeast Asia. If anything here catches your eye, please feel free to re-pin on Pinterest or share on Facebook. Check out the gallery now:
Find Out MoreSea Kayaking the Palawan Archipelago
What's that old saying about the best-laid plans of mice and men? I forget the exact wording but it has something to do with unexpected disasters appearing out of nowhere. Kris, Kristen, and I didn't have any mice involved but our plan to traverse a 30-mile sea kayak route through some of the most beautiful islands on earth definitely ended unexpectedly. Not enough room here to cover what happened, but check out this gallery of the highlights (just before the black clouds rolled in and we almost drifted to our doom in the vast expanse of the South China Sea):

Perfect Barrels at Bali's Bingin Beach
Bali's Bingin Beach is amazing for surf photos. Dredging barrels backlit by the sun dropping below the Indian Ocean horizon, it's no surprise that Bingin draws some of the most intense competition of any wave on Bali. Here's the highlights from an afternoon of great light and perfect waves. Special thanks to Baaba Seth for letting me include their music with the video!
