Food Photography Portfolio: From Five Star Cuisine to Street Food Favorites

From the creations of five-star celebrity chefs to street food classics that can be had for less than a dollar, this collection of food photos includes many of the best dishes I’ve been lucky to photograph over the past several years.

Most of these photos were taken on assignments for lifestyle and travel magazines to illustrate editorial profiles about the chefs and their culinary creations. These assignments are always fun to do because chefs are always interesting people, and when the photos are finished I get to try out the dishes.

Since most photo editors that I’ve worked with over the years prefer the look of natural light, these shots were taken without the artificial light from a remote flash. Seems that in these days of Instagram and Facebook, readers are more suspicious of food that looks like it was shot in a studio rather than the restaurant itself. And although it’s easier to control the lighting conditions with a remote flash, I love the challenge of bringing out the best of a dish using only the available light.

Thanks for checking out this collection, and if you need help capturing the best creations from your kitchen, please send me an e-mail.
