The Tibetan Government-in-Exile in Dharamsala, India |
After narrowly escaping the Chinese invasion of Tibet in 1959, the 14th Dalai Lama and his entourage were granted asylum in the Himalayan foothills of Himachal Pradesh. I had already planned to visit Dharamsala during my first trip to India, but while I was in Manali I heard that the Dalai Lama would be giving a teaching in person at the main Tibetan Buddhist Temple in Dharamsala. Not wanting to miss out on this amazing opportunity, I was able to get an inside pass to the event from a Tibetan monk at the monastery where I was staying in Dharamsala. Check out my blog for more details about seeing the Dalai Lama in Dharamsala, this photo gallery covers the highlights of experiencing Tibetan culture in Dharamsala. |
