The Tibetan Government-in-Exile in Dharamsala, India

After narrowly escaping the Chinese invasion of Tibet in 1959, the 14th Dalai Lama and his entourage were granted asylum in the Himalayan foothills of Himachal Pradesh. I had already planned to visit Dharamsala during my first trip to India, but while I was in Manali I heard that the Dalai Lama would be giving a teaching in person at the main Tibetan Buddhist Temple in Dharamsala. Not wanting to miss out on this amazing opportunity, I was able to get an inside pass to the event from a Tibetan monk at the monastery where I was staying in Dharamsala. Check out my blog for more details about seeing the Dalai Lama in Dharamsala, this photo gallery covers the highlights of experiencing Tibetan culture in Dharamsala.
