Bangkok and Christmas in Phuket - December 2008 and January 2009

Bangkok was my airport hub to connect the China and Nepal portions of my November 2008 to January 2009 trip. After leaving Preston in China's Yunnan province, I arrived in Bangkok via Shenzhen and had a few days in the city to explore and learn some more about cooking Thai food (Penang curry especially). I was in Thailand for Christmas so I visited friends JJ and Chloe in Phuket where they are working on marine conservation issues through the Green Fins project. I was back in Bangkok after the trip to Nepal and spent a few more days there before heading back to the Philippines. Highlights included a great sunset behind Wat Arun on the Chao Phraya River with long-tail boats spluttering by in the foreground.
